In total, 1.1 million cheques were mailed out in a nationwide exercise, between March 22 and April 25, to any licensee who had paid the 2011 RTV licence fee before the abolition of the RTV licence. The cheques were mailed out in batches to households, non-residential TV licensees (such as hotels, offices, food and beverage outlets and retail outlets that have TV sets), vehicle owners, and dealers engaged in the import or sale of any broadcasting apparatus.
