What matter foreigner numbers, if it means jobs created for locals?

I refer to the letter "How many Singaporeans exactly" (April 26 ) from Joseph Khoo. Does it really matter how many in a company are Singaporeans? From an employer's point of view, no. From an employee's point of view, yes? It's all a matter of from which angle one looks at the issue. A person starts a business with one thing in mind only - to make money. And the basics of economics will tell you that to achieve this, you have to control your costs while maximising output. No one in a right mind will invest money in a business to gratify others and not make a profit for himself. Take for example a warehousing company. The basic need will be manual labour - but how many Singaporeans are willing to work in a manual labour environment? The company will still have to focus on hiring foreign workers to do the manual work and in the process, create more office jobs which Singapor...
