Can you mix food and politics? Yes, say some enterprising restaurateurs. Japanese eatery Standing Sushi Bar has launched two sushi rolls and named them after to two election candidates - People's Action Party's (PAP) Tin Pei Ling and National Solidarity Party's (NSP) Nicole Seah. Said Standing Sushi Bar's owner Howard Lo: "I was experimenting with a new menu, and started wondering what it would be like if you tried to translate a person's traits into a sushi roll." The result: A Tin Pei Ling Roll with fried salmon skin. The reason: She's been getting "really attacked since her candidacy was announced and needs a thick skin". The Nicole Seah Roll, meanwhile, comes in pink sakura denbu and has "a variety of ingredients", because "she has been more vocal about her viewpoints and handling the different questions from the press".
