Letter praises WP's innovative umbrellas during Nomination Day, contrasts them with PAP's flags #sgelections #sgelection

A friend of mine asked me why I felt that Singapore should have more alternative voices in Parliament since PAP has been doing a good job. I referred him to a scene from a Nomination Centre yesterday. The PAP supporters there did it the "old way" - they carried the traditional Party flags and stood under the hot sun. Many of the PAP supporters were senior citizens, and while some of them brought along their own umbrellas, many had to endure the heat. In contrast, the Workers' Party supporters took shade under umbrellas which sported the Workers' Party logo. They were able to demonstrate their support for their Party while being shielded from the heat. This may not mean much in terms of national politics, but it goes to show that no one has a monopoly on good ideas.
