S'poreans will get taken for a ride without 'co-driver': Low #SGelections

THE Workers' Party (WP) kicked off its election campaign on Thursday night by urging Singaporeans not to let the People's Action Party (PAP) continue as the sole driver of Singapore's future. Instead, the party believes Singapore needs a robust Parliament with a strong opposition to play the role of a co-driver, who could act as a guide and check on the driver, and to step into the driver's seat if and when necessary. WP chief Low Thia Khiang, speaking at the party's first rally in a field in Hougang Central, said: 'A co-driver is essential, especially when the road gets tougher to navigate. The co-driver is there to slap the driver when he drives off course or when he goes asleep. 'But, of course, if the driver is friendly and drives responsibly, we just keep talking to him to keep him awake.' Describing the WP as someone without a driving licence, Mr Low said whether it ...
