SINGAPORE : The manufacturing business climate in Singapore is expected to remain positive in the next six months to September this year. The latest business expectations survey conducted by the Economic Development Board (EDB) says a weighted 19 percent of manufacturers expecting business conditions to improve, while a weighted 7 percent foresee deterioration. In the manufacturing sector, the transport engineering cluster emerged the most upbeat, with a net weighted balance of 31 percent of firms expecting the business situation to improve. Within the cluster, the marine and offshore engineering segment expects more orders as the price of crude oil rises, while the land segment foresees improved orders in anticipation of better business opportunities ahead.
