Voting for the opposition won't sink the ship: SPP #SGelections

VOTING for the opposition will not cause the Government to collapse and the ship to sink. Mr Benjamin Pwee, one of the Singapore People's Party's (SPP) five candidates contesting in Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC, made this point at the party's third rally at Bishan Stadium on Monday night. The former civil servant said he has heard various reasons why residents are concerned about voting for the opposition. Among them is the fear that the Government would be overturned. Pointing to an article in The Straits Times, he said that even if the opposition won all the hot areas, they would only take up one- fifth of the seats in Parliament. The opposition, he added, would not be able to make up a majority in Parliament, and so would not be able to sink the ship.
