AN HORSE - consisting of Kate Cooper (vocals, guitar) and Damon Cox (drums) - have perfected their infectious indie pop interpretation of garage rock to a T. With their sophomore effort, Cooper and Cox carry on the good work found on their debut, Rearrange Beds. This basically means a selection of tight melodic guitar work backed with uncomplicated, albeit frenetic, percussion. As with its debut, the band resists any temptation to include a bass guitar into the mix to "bottom out" the sound. Instead, Cooper's guitars function as both treble and bass in the sonic equation. While this mode of presentation isn't too unusual, Cooper has a way with tunes that will appeal to pop fans, as evidenced by songs like the lead single, Dressed Sharply, with its Sonic Youth-themed guitar lines and memorable chorus.
