But, come the end of May, the cub will leave sunny Singapore and take a 13-hour flight to Britain. His new home will be the Rare Species Conservation Centre (RSCC) in Kent in south-east England. He is leaving behind his sister, mother and father but his relocation - under an animal-exchange programme - is for the greater good of his species. 'The parting is bittersweet,' said Mr Subash Chandran, 59, curator of zoology at the zoo. 'We are definitely sad to see him go as we've seen him grow over the year from just a tiny cub to what he is now,' he added, referring to Indera's current weight of 28kg.
