Israel PM \"halts settlement plans\"

JERUSALEM: Israel's prime minister has ordered the postponement of a meeting to discuss the construction of hundreds of settlement homes in east Jerusalem, ahead of a trip to Europe, media reported Tuesday. Israeli military radio and online news site Ynet said Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the postponement of the meeting, which was scheduled for Thursday, ahead of talks in London and Paris on the stalled peace process. The meeting of the interior ministry's planning committee was to discuss the construction of around 900 homes in two projects in the settlement neighbourhoods of Har Homa and Pisgat Zeev, media reported. Both areas are in east Jerusalem, which Israel occupied in 1967 and annexed in a move never recognised by the international community.
