Singapore's purchasing managers' index (PMI) rose to 52.5 in April, up 2.4 points from March's 50.1 - and is now at its highest level since December 2009. The monthly PMI, a key indicator of manufacturing activity here, is based on a survey of purchasing executives at more than 150 industrial companies. A PMI reading above 50 points to a general expansion while any number below 50 represents a decline. The survey is compiled by the Singapore Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management.
