Man arrested for allegedly cutting Internet cables of over 100 HDB blocks in Clementi, Sembawang, Sengkang and Yishun
A 34-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for allegedly cutting the Internet cables of more than 100 HDB blocks. His acts are said to have caused hours of service disruption for Internet users in the affected blocks in Clementi, Sembawang, Sengkang and Yishun. Engineers from the Internet service providers had to be called in to fix the problem. The police, who arrested the man on Wednesday at his Clementi home, said more than 400 fibre-optic cables for high-speed Internet transmission have been cut since the beginning of last month. A cable cutter has been recovered from the suspect's home. If found guilty, he could be fined up to $10,000 or jailed for up to three years.
