Man's daily shortcut to Biopolis across railway tracks lead to fatal accident

HE USED the footpath (pictured above) - like many others did - to save some time off his journey to his workplace at Biopolis. However, Mr Ken Ang's (inset) use of the shortcut yesterday - which lies across an active Keretapi Tanah Melayu railway track - turned out to be his last. Police received a call at 7.35am informing them of a man who was found motionless near the track at Blk 79 Commonwealth Drive. Mr Ang, who was in his early 40s, was believed to have been hit five to ten minutes before the call. Even though passing trains would sound their horn to warn people about the impending danger, the cleaner couldn't have heard it - he was deaf and mute.
