TOKYO: Japanese giants Toyota, Nissan, Hitachi and Fujitsu were amongst some 500 participants attending Japan’s exhibition for nursing care and rehabilitation, the largest in Asia. With Japan’s population ageing faster than any other, a bewildering array of high- and low- tech products could be found for the country’s fast-ageing population and disabled at the 42nd Home Care and Rehabilitation Exhibition in Tokyo. Motorcycle company Yamaha Motors has now taken to developing wheelchairs as well - both self-powered and motor-assisted. “Independence is our key word.
