SINGAPORE: In his more than 40 years of public service, Mr Tan Gee Paw, chairman of the Public Utilities Board (PUB), led teams that cleaned up the Kallang Basin, built reservoirs, and solved Singapore's sewage problem. On Wednesday evening (Sep 16), Mr Tan was awarded the President's Science and Technology Medal for his work in water sustainability - an area he said has "strategic importance" to Singapore. The medal is the nation’s top scientific honour and the most prestigious award given out at the ceremony. The PUB Chairman said the most memorable moment for him was seeing the first drop of NEWater.
