One man's popularity is through the roof this General Election, and he's not even a candidate. He's Mr Yam Ah Mee, Returning Officer for GE 2011, and his legion of fans has created video, posters and even a fake Facebook page for their new idol. As Returning Officer for the election, Mr Yam's role was to announce the final tally of votes for each of the constituencies. His monotone voice and stony expression soon became a familiar sight for Singaporeans awaiting the results. Some netizens have even created music videos using clips of his voice . With his Facebook page inundated with friend requests, he joins the ranks of the super-popular this election season, alongside such GE 2011 favourites as PAP's Tin Pei Ling and NSP's Nicole Seah.
