AS THE election results trickled in during the wee hours of Sunday morning, The Straits Times' website proved a big hit with those seeking the latest news. Some 6.5 million hits were logged - more than four times the daily average and the largest number recorded in a single day. The number of unique visitors hit 1,024,923. This is almost three times the average daily viewership. The straitstimes.com website launched a dedicated section for the General Election last month, as part of its efforts to satisfy the thirst for news at the hustings. The Straits Times' print and online journalists put out a mix of news updates, blogs and news analyses plus video clips, pictures and multimedia offerings.
