SINGAPORE - The Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore says it expects to generate more than 4,500 skilled electronics jobs from the investments attracted this year. Towards this end, the SEMICON Singapore conference at Suntec has dedicated an exhibition area to a career fair offering hundreds of such jobs. Major companies such as Applied Materials, GLOBALFOUNDRIES, IM Flash Technologies and Micron are represented at the conference organised by the global industry association, the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI). "The companies are excited as there are really job openings available in the industry. Applied Materials announced that they will set up a huge collaboration with Institute of Microelectronics to do R&D work for the forefront of technology and that really opens up R&D jobs for the people," said Mr Chong Joon-Woon, deputy director ...
