WHILE the Internet has succeeded in becoming a platform to criticise the Government, it has sadly become so polarised that it is now overwhelmingly anti-government. Its participants now believe the only views that are right are anti-government. The People's Action Party (PAP) has five tough years ahead to change. Netizens will monitor every step it takes towards renewal and will most likely discredit it, regardless of the correctness of the move. By contrast, every successful step taken by the opposition may well be glorified online as a victory against Goliath. Against such odds, the PAP must persevere, and its effort will not go unrecognised or unappreciated. Singaporeans too must change: Seek balance rather than readily accept hearsay as truth, and cross-check sources of information rather than stick to a sole source.
