Eric Tan quits Workers' Party after NCMP role offered to Gerald Giam. Speed bump for WP?

Hot on the heels of its impressive showing at last week's General Elections, the Workers' Party (WP) has hit a speed bump over its Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) decision. The party nominated two candidates – Mr Yee Jenn Jong, 46, and Mr Gerald Giam, 33 – to accept the seats. But the decision riled fellow member Eric Tan, 55, so much that he told Today newspaper he would resign. Attempts to contact Mr Tan and Ms Lim to confirm the former's resignation were unsuccessful. Other WP members declined to comment. Was Mr Giam's appointment a surprise? More in The New Paper on Saturday (May 14).
