M1 to deploy SEA's first commercial next-gen mobile network

SINGAPORE - M1 has announced the deployment of South-east Asia's first commercial Long Term Evolution (LTE) network in Singapore last Friday. The LTE is capable of delivering downlink speeds of up to 300 Mbps and is specifically designed for the efficient carriage of data traffic. The new network will enable rich multimedia applications such as video conferencing, high-definition content transmission, high speed video downloads and social network updates, giving M1 customers an unbeatable mobile broadband experience. Huawei, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, has been awarded a five-year contract valued at S$280 million, to provide the turnkey LTE solution for M1.
