5.8 quake shook areas in eastern Japan, caused buildings to sway in Tokyo

TOKYO - A 5.8-MAGNITUDE earthquake shook Tokyo and other areas in eastern Japan on Friday, the meteorological agency said. The quake took place at 9.46 am (8.46am Singapore time), and caused buildings to sway in Tokyo. The focus was in the Pacific off the coast of Ibaraki prefecture, some 130km from the capital, according to the Japanese agency. -- AFP
