Amy Khor wants to address affordability, accessibility, adequacy of healthcare: By Joanne Chan | Posted: 20 May

SINGAPORE: Dr Amy Khor would like to address affordability, accessibility and adequacy of healthcare when she takes on her new post as Minister of State for Health. She said that although Singapore's healthcare quality is high, it continues to "vex many Singaporeans". "The key challenge, really, is how to sustain and in fact, even surpass the already high standards of healthcare in Singapore, without imposing a heavy financial burden on consumers and the state," she said. She said that outgoing Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Hawazi Daipi have laid very good foundations. And the incoming team, helmed by Mr Gan Kim Yong, will need to see how they can improve on this by engaging all stakeholders, said Dr Khor.
