Defending Formula 1 champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, has won the Singapore Grand Prix to regain second place in the drivers’ standings. McLaren’s Jenson Button finished in second, with season leader Fernando Alonso completing the podium at the Marina Bay circuit. The fate of the only night race in the calendar was decided on 23rd lap after Lewis Hamilton of McLaren retired with gearbox problems. This allowed Vettel to take the lead, which he never gave away despite the three restarts due to the appearance of safety car.
