PUB 'tai-chi' water tank security to Town Councils and home owners: As usual, PUB was compelled to respond only

After its failure to control the ‘once in fifty’ year flooding last year, state agency Public Utilities Board (PUB) has come under intense public scrutiny again for the latest security breach at a water tank in Woodlands. A maid’s body was discovered in the water tank and subsequent investigations revealed that she was murdered there by her boyfriend, a Bangladeshi worker. Residents of the block had since complained that they have spotted foreign workers bringing women to the water tank where they were believed to be having sex. As usual, PUB was compelled to respond only after a flurry of letters were published in the Straits Times Forum criticizing the lapse and it predictably ‘tai-chi’ the responsibility of security of the water storage tanks to others.
