[TODAY] Writing the songs for the future

Develop and nurture local singer-songwriters. That was the original premise behind the Noise-Timbre Singer-Songwriter Programme (NTSSP). And over the past few months, this writer has had the opportunity to give his two cents' worth with the project. Jointly organised by Noise Singapore - an initiative of the National Arts Council - and the Timbre Music Group, the NTSSP began in late 2010 with the of video submissions (via Youtube) of interested singer-songwriters. Six of them - Jaime Wong, Deon Toh, Moses Soh, Jo Chiang, Victoria Ho and Jonathan Chan - were selected from more than 50 videos submitted, with a chance to be featured in a monthly showcase Timbre @ The Substation, which started in February.
