Iceland ash cloud no impact on S'pore travellers

SINGAPORE: Travel agents in Singapore said there has been no impact on Singaporeans travelling to, and in Europe, as a result of the recent Iceland volcanic eruption. Singapore Airlines said it is closely monitoring the movement of ash clouds and at this point, said its European flights remain unaffected. However, European air traffic controllers said on Tuesday morning more than 250 flights had been cancelled as a volcanic ash cloud covered Scotland and Northern Ireland. Many Singaporeans are making Europe their choice destination due to the favourable Euro exchange rate. Travel agents here said they are keeping fingers crossed that the volcanic ash would not cause any major travel disruptions.
