Football: CISCO guards at S.League matches?

SINGAPORE: The presence of uniformed CISCO guards at venues of football matches could be a better deterrent than the current private security officers against potential brawls between sportsmen. This was one of the preventive measures suggested, following a brawl on Monday between two S.League clubs at Hougang Stadium. The scuffle between players of Hougang United and Etoile FC had forced match officials to abandon the football match. Details of the incident remain sketchy but investigation has begun. Some industry players are calling for more punitive measures to be in place, to avoid a repeat of the incident. They said current punishments are adequate but some areas could do with fine-tuning.
