Dover Park Hospice increases beds, may expand

The move is to meet the challenges of increasing demands for hospice services as Singapore rapidly ages. It will also take on cases that need intermittent intensive interventions such as blood transfusion, instead of transferring these patients to acute hospitals to cut costs. This was announced as the hospice welcomed former Deputy Prime Minister Dr Tony Tan as its first patron on Thursday. In his speech, Dr Tan - who is also the chairman of Singapore Press Holdings - said Singaporeans should not think only about life goals but also care goals, and not just the end of life, but all disease stages.
