IT IS common for regular train commuters during the morning peak period to be squeezed tightly. As a result, female commuters might face an increased risk of being molested. Most of the time, the train ride would not be 100 per cent smooth - there would be occasional minor jerks, causing commuters to lose their balance and lean on others. As a female commuter, I have experienced and seen many instances when male commuters have overly close body contact with females. Often, it can be brushed off as "just an accident" because the male commuters might have lost their balance. However, this might not always be the case, but it is hard to determine if it was indeed an outrage of modesty. I suggest that SMRT introduce "women-only" cabins during peak periods to curb molestation on trains. The safety of commuters should not be compromised. Though it might not be a significant prob...
