Yay! Net Happiness!

NOW that the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has seen the wisdom of a happiness index that measures qualitative factors, such as general satisfaction, security and work-life balance, it cannot be dismissed as a quirky idea of a small country like Bhutan ('Be happy! It's not all about economic growth'; Wednesday). It is about time we developed a gross national happiness index to capture factors that contribute to a gratifying and meaningful life. Clearly Singaporeans care about much more than economic growth, as the recent General Election has demonstrated.
