Decontaminating the water will cost 210,000 yen per ton, the company said on Friday. Water decontamination will account for more than 10 per cent of the about 430 billion yen Tepco expects to need for the second stage. Facilities for decontaminating the tainted water are being constructed with technology from French nuclear power company Areva SA and others.
