(CNA|sg) Businessman fined after punching man in dispute over parking lot

SINGAPORE: A 61-year-old businessman was fined S$1,600 on Monday for punching another man in the mouth in a dispute over a parking lot at Mount Alvernia Hospital. Tan Tek Sin, alias, Chin Tek Sin, could have been jailed up to two years, fined S$5,000 or both, for the offence. Defence counsel, Gregory Ong, informed the court about Tan's mental state at that time as he was on his way to visit his daughter who is suffering from advanced stage cancer. The lawyer added in his mitigation plea that the man Tan punched, 38-year-old business executive, Chee I-Ming only suffered minor injuries following the incident. Mr Chee had spotted an empty parking lot at the hospital at around 10.15am on June 7 last year, and was driving towards it when Tan's car swerved in front of him.
