It is very simple really, dear born and bred in Singapore Singaporeans. The PAP is in a massive jam. They know that Dr Tan Cheng Bock would be a very credible candidate for all those who dislike the ruling party to support. At the moment such a sentiment is so overwhelming that whichever candidate it puts up will lose and lose badly and it will suffer a big loss of face. Jayakumar, Dhanabalan, JYM PIllay, George Yeo, Tony Tan, Zainul Aibdin (he has cleverly opted out, he knows he will lose), Abdullah Tarmugi, Tommy Koh, Philip Yeo, Ho Kwon Ping, Ngiam Tong Dow, any top civil servant – they will not be able to beat Dr Tan. I would be surprised if any one of these gentleman would be happy to stand knowing full well the ground sentiment. What the PAP may do is try and persuade Dr Tan to withdraw. This might happen.
