The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) has suspended the import of Sunlight Brand beverages from Taiwan, after the reports that they were contaminated with DEHP. DEHP is a plasticiser and is added to plastics to make them flexible and soft. DEHP is not meant for food use and should not be added to food. AVA reported that out of the 26 sample from 13 brands that were tested for DEHP one sample "Sunlight Brand" Star Fruit Juice, failed the test. AVA has told the importer of the brand to remove the product from the market immediately and suspend its sales of the product. AVA also advised consumers who have bought the product to not consume and to discard it instead.
