Asian shares open mostly lower

TOKYO Tokyo shares opened almost flat on Wednesday after rallying nearly two per cent the previous day on a brighter outlook for factory output. The benchmark Nikkei index, which closed up 1.99 per cent on an upbeat outlook from manufacturers in the world's number three economy, opened up 14.32 points, or 0.15 per cent, at 9,708.05. US stocks on Tuesday shook off weak US economic reports and gained ground amid rising hopes that Greece will reach a deal to keep a debt default at bay. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 128.21 points (1.03 per cent) to close at 12,569.79. But the blue-chip Dow was down 1.9 per cent over the month. HONG KONG Hong Kong shares opened 0.28 per cent lower on Wednesday, with the Hang Seng index dropping 67.49 points to 23,616.64.
