Mr Khaw Boon Wan, who is National Development Minister, takes over the post from Mr Lim Boon Heng, who retired from politics shortly before the May 7 election. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong remains as the party's secretary-general, while his two deputy prime ministers - Mr Teo Chee Hean and Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam - are now the first and second assistant secretary-generals respectively.
