While April 2010 saw weak demand due to the volcanic ash crisis in Europe, the International Air Transport Association (Iata), which released its latest traffic numbers on Thursday, said total global international air travel grew 7 per cent this year, compared to April 2008 before the global financial crisis hit. Iata chief executive and director general Giovanni Bisignani said that despite the strong rebound, the industry remains fragile. He said: 'The risk is fuel. What will happen with fuel?' Fuel makes up about 30 per cent of an airline's total operating costs. ...
