TOKYO - Toyota Motor and Honda Motor, the carmakers hardest hit by Japan's record earthquake, led United States' sales declines last month among Asia-based manufacturers as supplies of some models ran low. Monthly sales fell 33 per cent for Toyota and 23 per cent for Honda as the industry total dropped 3.7 per cent from a year earlier, according to figures reported yesterday. Nissan posted a 9.1-per-cent decline, while deliveries rose again for South Korea's Hyundai Motor and affiliate Kia Motors, with respective gains of 21 per cent and 53 per cent. "It was a pretty frustrating month, particularly for Toyota dealers," said Mr Jesse Toprak, vice-president of industry trends at TrueCar.com in Santa Monica, California, a website that tracks sales and price trends.
