New Education Minister Heng Swee Keat has said that the 'right place' for him to start work is in schools. -- ST PHOTO: JOYCE FANG NEW Education Minister Heng Swee Keat has said that the 'right place' for him to start work is in schools, and he will carry out a detailed study on a selected number of schools so he can acquire a deeper understanding of what happens on the ground. Mr Heng was speaking to reporters after the closing ceremony of the annual Pre-University Seminar held at Prince George's Park Residences on Friday. 'We want our education system to be student-centric. I want to understand more deeply the experience of the students, the interaction in schools, the experience of the teacher and student leaders, and to hopefully begin to design the prototypes so that we can look at where the experiments are, which ones have worked well,' Mr Heng said.
