BANGKOK: Thailand's Election Commission is printing millions of extra ballots ahead of the July 3 polls, raising concerns of potential electoral fraud. The Elections Commission is overseeing the printing of 53.5 million ballots for the party-list vote, at the Government Lottery Printing Office in Bangkok. Election Commission secretary-general Suthiphon Taveechaiyagarn said: "The number of voters will increase and also, we have advanced voting. "We have to separate the ballots which are used on Election Day and... advanced voting". It is also a precautionary measure for any ballots that are lost or damaged. But that's nearly double what the law limits. There are 47.3 million eligible voters in Thailand but there be 53.5 million ballots printed. The extra 6.2 million ballots are 13 per cent of the total.
