#Fukushima tourism sector to get government cash - Straits Times

THE list of businesses entitled to compensation for their losses due to rumours about the ongoing crisis at the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant will be expanded to include hotels and other tourist businesses in Fukushima Prefecture, sources close to a government panel on the issue said. The new policy was adopted at a meeting on Tuesday afternoon of the panel tasked with drawing up a set of guidelines for determining which businesses and individuals are eligible for compensation. The policy, which will be incorporated into the committee's second round of guidelines, was officially approved later the same day. The panel, chaired by Gakushuin University Professor Yoshihisa Nomi, has added the tourism businesses in Fukushima Prefecture, that have been hit directly by rumours arising from the nuclear crisis, to the list of those eligible for compensation.
