More than 100 people share their views on job issues at 'Employ Singaporeans First' Speakers' Corner event

The Employ Singaporeans First event at Speakers' Corner yesterday was attended by more than 100 people. -- ST PHOTO: SAM CHIN MORE than 100 people turned up at Hong Lim Park on Saturday, at an event for those disgruntled about their employment prospects to air their views. The Employ Singaporeans First event at Speakers' Corner was organised by Mr Gilbert Goh, 49, who said he was a social worker in Sydney, Australia. He said he quit his job to come back here to contest in the recent general election under the National Solidarity Party banner for Tampines GRC. Mr Goh runs the website Transitioning.org, a support group for the unemployed, and is looking for part-time work. Four speakers, including him, spoke at the hour-long event.
