The flag carrier said on Monday that its entry will expand oneworld's global coverage to almost 950 destinations in 150 countries, served by a combined fleet of over 2,600 planes carrying 358 million passengers a year. Oneworld currently has a dozen members, including American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and Japan Airlines. Germany's Airberlin and India's Kingfisher Airlines are expected to join the alliance early next year. Malaysian Airlines hopes joining the alliance will boost its fortunes after suffering a first-quarter loss due to high fuel prices. -- AP
