Asia's consumers feel optimistic: Nielsen poll - Straits Times
CONSUMER confidence in Singapore and across Asia remains high, according to a survey released yesterday. The Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Index for Singapore was unchanged at 109 points in the first quarter from the fourth quarter of last year. A number above 100 indicates positive consumer sentiment, while a figure below 100 indicates pessimism. The buoyant mood was widespread, with the Asia-Pacific region clocking its highest score on record, said Nielsen. The region as a whole jumped 10 points from the previous quarter's score to 107. The feel-good factor was fuelled by continuing high employment, which is energising consumers to spend again, Nielsen said. Read the full story in Tuesday's edition of The Straits Times.
