Oil spill at Kallang River

Oil spill at Kallang River

SINGAPORE : An oil spill was discovered at Kallang River, next to Potong Pasir Avenue 1, on Tuesday afternoon. The national water agency, PUB, was alerted and it dispatched contractors to use oil booms to confine the spill to 100 metres along the side of the waterway. PUB said removal of the oil slick was completed in the evening. It added that the oil film was not expected to impact water quality in the Kallang River. However, water samples from the river were taken for tests. PUB is working with the National Environment Agency (NEA) to investigate the cause of the pollution and will continue to monitor the water quality along its waterways.
