SINGAPORE: The Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums closed sharply higher in all categories, in the latest bidding exercise which ended on Wednesday afternoon. The COE price of big cars rose by S$6,700 to S$63,000. The small cars category saw a rise of S$6,401 to S$53,390, the highest in 14 years. Meanwhile, the COE price for goods and vehicles category climbed S$6,017 to S$29,006. Motorcycles' COE rose S$478 to S$2,491. The premium of the open category increased S$5,111 to S$62,000. Analysts said the increase can be attributed to a range of new models launched recently, as well as bids by taxi companies. Car dealers said one of the reasons premiums rose across the board this month was the bidding exercise lasted for three weeks instead of the usual two. And as such, the number of bids rose by 20 to 30 per cent. Dealers said they expect COE premiums to remain stagnant...
