MND to inject about 43 sites into GLS program for second half of 2011

SINGAPORE: There will be 43 land sites being put up for sale in the second half of the year, under the government land sales (GLS) programme, where 17 private residential sites will be put up for tender on the confirmed list. The government said this is to cater to strong market demand, but observers point to a potential worry on the horizon. In the second half of the year, there will be land put up for sale to build about 8,100 private residential units. This is under the confirmed list, and is similar to the supply being pushed out in the first half of the year. This is seen as a move by the government to strike a balance between meeting demand while remaining cautious.
