Singapore Airlines koopt bij Airbus en Boeing

SINGAPORE - Luchtvaartmaatschappij Singapore Airlines heeft een order geplaatst bij de Europese vliegtuigfabrikant Airbus ter waarde van 7,5 miljard dollar (5,8 miljard euro) voor nog eens vijf A380-superjumbo's en 20 A350's. Dat maakte Singapore Airlines woensdag bekend. De leveringen beginnen vanaf 2017. Als onderdeel van de overeenkomst koopt Airbus vijf toestellen van het type A340-500 van Singapore Airlines terug. Die vliegtuigen zullen in het vierde kwartaal van 2013 uit dienst van de maatschappij worden genomen. Het bedrijf bezit al 19 superjumbo's. Woensdag werd ook gemeld dat Scoot, de prijsvechter van Singapore Airlines, een order heeft geplaatst bij de Amerikaanse vliegtuigbouwer Boeing voor 20 787 Dreamliners. Daarmee is ruim 4 miljard dollar gemoeid. De leveringen staat gepland voor 2014.
