Stray dogs lose legs after getting caught in illegal wild boar traps

Stray dogs roaming the forested areas in the northern part of Singapore are being maimed by illegal wild boar traps. It is believed that some men have been laying the traps hoping to catch wild boars for food. STOMPer Wild Hog , who read the story in The Straits Times today (Jun 13), was saddened by the plight of the dogs. He said: "I hope the culprits will be brought to justice quickly. While some of us are concerned about wild boars attacking humans, ironically, it is these irresponsible men who are the ones we should be worried about. "Firstly, they should not be trapping wild boars for food, because they are one of the few wild animals left in our forests. "Secondly, their illegal acts are causing the poor innocent dogs to lose their legs." Sightings of wild boars have been reported in STOMP.
